The above end grain cutting board is Cherry, Birch and Zebra. We also have Walnut, Maple, Purple Heart, Mahogany and most other species.

Food safe mineral oil or select our favorite, tung oil & citrus blend. Longer cure time & a slight up charge but longer lasting. Above board has a generous mineral oil soak. All boards unless requested come pre-waxed with are proprietary VahlaWoodWax. (Great wax, pick some up in the shop). Or order a board bare to stain/wax yourself.

End Grain, the ends of the boards, great regenerative properties of the wood and usually better on your knives. Processing adds additional steps, more cuts & an extra day which is typical why end grain boards cost more. Hopefully becomes a family heirloom.

Edge Grain / Long Grain, long edges of the boards, look great and still strong. Kinfe marks typically show up more and may require more maintenance but will still last a long time.

Face Grain, the main part, face, of a board. Works good for charcuterie boards and serving trays. Will show more cut marks but good for duller cheese knives and such. Great for counter tops and tables.
